I do provide instruction for the top 4 producers of wireless enabled routers on the market. If you need help logging into your wireless router, or are unfamiliar with the process. We’ll be using the setup and configuration menus from a Linksys E1000 series wireless router, however most manufactures of wireless routers have very similar MAC filtering setup pages. In this example I’m going to show you how to create a MAC address filter, which only permits computers with network cards containing the hardware address specified in the filter to access the wireless network through the router. You can hear it being called the Hardware Address, and or Physical Address depending on how it’s being used in context.Ī computer MAC hardware address filter is nothing more than a control list that gets compared against the hardware’s ID of a network card trying to gain access to a specific function or service.Ĭreating computer MAC address filters gives the ability to either include or exclude the physical hardware address of the computer sending an Ethernet network packet. In the world of networking what is a MAC address can sometimes go by different names. Media Access Control Address is what a MAC address stands for, and is mainly used for verification of a nodes physical address on the network, and during the creation of Ethernet network packets in transit. Normally its encoded by the manufacturer at the time it was built, and contains information about the maker of the card. MAC address filtering uses a network interface cards (NIC) identifier called a MAC Address, just like a vehicle VIN number for an automobile.Įvery network card in the world has a unique MAC address encoded into it, and is a great way to strengthen your Wireless Router Security.

I've been building mpv live since I first installed it years ago and this feels like a significant downgrade to me. Not to pile-on or be overly negative, but looking over this situation in sum, the retrograde commentary on how this forking silliness won't possibly affect downstream for several years because **Debian**, and their unwillingness to comprehend how this punishes distros and users that actually **do** compile from their repo (the defense being, essentially, "well, downstream doesn't care about us, so we won't care about it!"), I gave up and simply transitioned to their most recent release in the tree. However I'll put all the necessary machinery in the ebuild so it should build once ffmpeg devs review and merge those patches. Ĭurrently one cannot build mpv-9999 with ffmpeg-9999, because some of the patches submitted by mpv devs weren't merged, which is the whole reason of this fork. Using a ffmpeg fork (which will always be just small patches ontop of upstream ffmpeg) will be so much easier.Īlso "just let wm4 have his ragefork for a week or two". I'm not interested in waiting weeks until I can get certain patches into ffmpeg, and then wait a few months until the next ffmpeg release, and a few years until distros like debian finally support it. Having to worry about this is quite grating, especially when I added the API myself. So I don't have to worry anymore about "when" I can use a certain new FFmpeg API. The real reason I'm doing is so I can control what FFmpeg is used exactly and therefore what set of APIs is available to me (as a developer) exactly. Its only purpose is to please certain mpv devs : It's going to be in unstable limbo and probably won't have any releases ever. Thank you for patches and stuff, but I don't recognize any usefulness in bringing ffmpeg-mpv in Gentoo. Turns out the problem with the runtime being different on running mpv -V was due to me not updating my tomoyo policies. > Also I get that I am using a different runtime version of labavcodec when I > ffmpeg-mpv) with FFTOOLS set to -*, there are package collisions. > ffmpeg packages fail to link), and if I don't build one of these (ffmpeg or > I have to build with ffmpeg git installed or mpv fails to link (non -9999 (In reply to stressfactor from comment #10) If the total heat loss (represented as a UA) through the envelope of your building does not exceed the total heat loss from the same building conforming to the code, the software generates a report that declares your building is compliant with the code. The UA that would result from a building conforming to the code requirements is compared against the UA for your building. RES check works by performing a simple U-factor x Area (UA) calculation for each building assembly to determine the overall UA of a building. RES check is appropriate for insulation and window trade-off calculations in residential detached one- and two-family buildings and multi-family buildings three stories or less in height above grade, such as apartments, condominiums, and townhouses. RES check also simplifies compliance determinations for building officials, plan checkers, and inspectors by allowing them to quickly determine if a low-rise residence meets the code. The RES check product group makes it fast and easy for builders, designers, and contractors to determine whether new homes, additions, and alterations meet the requirements of the IECC or a number of state energy codes. If First Aid and the Live Verification process indicate that repairs are required on a volume, it’s time to boot from another disk drive and then run Disk Utility again. Finally, an alert message that says “Incorrect size for file temp” is no cause for alarm. In addition, you may not be able to interrupt the Live Verification through First Aid, so it’s best to let it continue to run until completed. If you run First Aid on a volume that is not journaled, Disk Utility responds with an error message saying “ERROR: could not freeze volume (Operation not supported). Note that the Live Verification process only works on volumes that have been formatted as “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”. We’ll cover that in the next section of this post. To repair a disk, it’s necessary to boot from another drive, then run Disk Utility again. The process usually runs quickly, taking only a few minutes to verify a large (2 TB) boot drive. You’ll get a notification that the First Aid process is complete (see image below), with either a green check mark indicating that everything appears to be OK or a red X indicating that there are some issues that need to be repaired. Disk Utility informs you of what’s about to happen, specifically noting that apps will become unresponsive during the tests.Ĭlick the blue Continue button, and Disk Utility begins to perform its battery of tests on the hard drive. Disk Utility responds by stating what it’s about to do:Ĭlick the blue Run button to begin the process of verifying the disk. To verify a disk, simply launch Disk Utility (found in Applications > Utilities), click on the drive volume you wish to check, then click on the First Aid button in the Disk Utility toolbar. It does this by “freezing” the volume, so while you’re running the verification tests you may find that your Mac becomes slow or unresponsive. This means that Disk Utility can check the status of a disk, its catalog file, multi-linked files, catalog hierarchy and more the Mac needing to be started up with another disk drive. Verifying a disk subjects it to a series of checks, all of which are done through a process called “Live Verification”. An external device doesn’t work properly. Some of the issues you might encounter that indicate a disk that might need repair: This can be useful if you’re running into odd issues with a Mac, so we’ll take a look at the process of verifying and repairing disks with macOS Sierra’s Disk Utility. The updated app now presents a streamlined appearance while retaining all of its former functionality, and it’s still useful for verifying or repairing disks. One of the old Mac OS X utilities, Disk Utility, has received a makeover in macOS Sierra.
